Week 3 Reflection

On Thursday this week Senior Constable Tony came to visit us from North Canterbury police. He discussed with us what he does in his job and what it is like to be a crime officer.

Week One Reflection

This weeks reflection....

This week our class arrived back from the holidays to discover a major crime scene in our creative cave. We have been working all through ways to solve the crime including, Finger and hand print analysis and Handwriting. I was most interested in the handwriting lesson. I enjoyed this because after we did the work we could look back at our sheets and see what type of person we are based on our handwriting. My main suspects are Miss Bayliss, Mrs Hunter and Miss Lamond. I suspect these three because multiple pieces of evidence trace back to them, including drink bottles, hats and lipstick. This week my 2 positives are making our detective badges and doing the detective lessons. I would like to start interviewing other teachers next week.

Week 9 Reflection

What is something you are proud of or have found interesting in your learning recently?
- I have really enjoyed Passion projects lately. I have found it interesting when I have to find the correct quantities to make icing.


What is something you need to work on in your learning and why?
- I think that I need to work on my time management with my reading hopscotch. I have found that I have not finished what I decided to do within the reading time.

Our Tōtara goal has been Responding Appropriately, what does this mean to you?
- To me this means that we need to Respond with good manner and kindness.

How can you show Responding Appropriately?-
I need to know what the subject of the conversation is so that i can respond to the topic kindly.

Ayla's Camp Reflection.

WAINUI CAMP, 2018

What is your best memory of Tōtara camp?

- My best memory was on Thursday night when we were all playing Hide and seek in the camp building.I enjoyed how we just had free time to hang out with our friends in a different way that we do during school hours. We were laughing lots and there were smiles for Africa.

What challenged you on camp and how did you get through this challenge?

- I think that the only challenge was on the giant swing on Thursday. We were all pulling the people up on the swing and it started raining really hard and it was freezing our fingers. I just tried to think of warm things and ignored the pain in my hands.

How did you show Active Listening on camp and why was it important?
- I think that during the activities I listened well and obeyed the instructors wishes.
I did this by showing eye contact while they were talking and also when the nature around us was distracting I ignored it and carried on with what we were meant to do. It was important in the way that we could have more turns at things if people weren't talking and also the parents and instuctors did not have to get angry or unhappy.

Some work I am proud of…

I am very proud of the math task that I did today. I completed a 3D cube out of blocks. The trick about this cube is that the three colours cannot be in the same row or column. I completed this easily.

What challenged me over last two weeks?

I think that I have been struggling a little bit on remembering my homework book. I think that I need to still adjust to having a book that goes home regularly.

How did I overcome these challenges or what do I need to do to overcome them in the future?

I think that I needed to create a way that I will be able to remember to bring my home work book and take it home without a fuss.

What is my personal goal for next week?

I think that my personal goal this week is to remember to bring my computer home yet still having it in the device cupboard during the day to keep it safe and secure.

This fortnights Tōtara goal was greetings and I achieved/showed this by...

I think that I did quite well with greetings. I greeted my friends lots and when I did greet teachers i did that appropriately. Maybe next time I could greet other teachers that don't teach me every day more often.
