Writing Sample - Persuasive Speech

Personal Reflection-
I think that I did well on Using different tones and pitch. I also did well on eye contact since I had practiced lots. Next time I should work on using props. I used my hands lots but absolutely ZERO props.

On Thursday this week Senior Constable Tony came to visit us from North Canterbury police. He discussed with us what he does in his job and what it is like to be a crime officer.

Book Review

The haunting of Charity Delafield

In a big, old, prison-like house called Stone Green Hall lives a young girl - Charity Delafield. After her mother's disappearance, Charity has been forbidden to explore or leave the house.
But every night she has the same dream. A dream of a long corridor lit by candles, and a heavy locked door. Then one day she stumbles across that very door. She also discovers a very strange diary that will unpick the secrets of her family.
I really enjoyed this gripping tale by Ian Beck - I would definitely recommend this book to anyone aged 8+. I rate it 10/10.

Detective Writing

Location: Kaiapoi North School, Tiwai block creative cave

I entered Kaiapoi North Schools Year seven and eight creative cave
on Monday the 30th of April. I was immediately attracted to the amount
of evidence. Seeing this made my stomach flip with excitement and nerves.

I noticed first that a large capacity of glass and fish equipment had been
interrupted. What seemed curious about this evidence was the lack of
a fish tank. I assumed this was the main motivation of the burglary. As
I studied the taped off areas I noticed lots of notes and paper. Some were
occupied with random words, others with larger sentences such as, “Ha ha,
payback for annoying me!”

Some more handy pieces of evidence were multiple foot and hand prints.
A muddy footprint was discovered close to a major entrance or exit spoke
some suspicion. After calculating the perimeter and area, the shoe is a
narrow converse. This evidence shall be used against the suspected intruder
to insure their worthy punishment. Multiple hand and fingerprints were found
on high surfaces such as walls and hand prints.

After spending multiple days cracking the case, my team of highly trained
officials are in the right to convict the following:

Deena Bayliss

Reasoning of conviction was evidence adding up.

These criminals will serve as community helpers through KNS and
North Canterbury. They will also buy Caitlin Turner more fish.

Week One Reflection

This weeks reflection....

This week our class arrived back from the holidays to discover a major crime scene in our creative cave. We have been working all through ways to solve the crime including, Finger and hand print analysis and Handwriting. I was most interested in the handwriting lesson. I enjoyed this because after we did the work we could look back at our sheets and see what type of person we are based on our handwriting. My main suspects are Miss Bayliss, Mrs Hunter and Miss Lamond. I suspect these three because multiple pieces of evidence trace back to them, including drink bottles, hats and lipstick. This week my 2 positives are making our detective badges and doing the detective lessons. I would like to start interviewing other teachers next week.
